STRASBURG, France, March 10 (Xinhua) -- The European Parliament adopted a resolution on Wednesday, calling for stronger economic governance in the new 10-year blueprint unveiled by the European Commission last week.
The resolution jointly produced by the three largest groups in the 736-member parliament was adopted with 462 members of the European Parliament (MEP) voting for it and 140 MEPs against it.
The document called on the European Council to abandon the "open coordination method" based on peer pressure in the field of economic policy in favour of stronger instruments instead in the new Europe 2020 strategy.
