On June 21-22 2007, a seminar on “EU Legal System and Market Economy System” was convened in Miyun District of Beijing, hosted by Group B (the group of legal studies) of Team Ⅱ of he Institute of European Studies of, Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) under the framework of EU-China European Studies Programme. 18 scholars, experts and participants from the Institute of European Studies of CASS, Beijing Second Intermediate People’s Court, Beijing Foreign Studies University, North-west University of Politics and Law, Wuhan University, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing Youth College for Political Sciences participated in this seminar. The seminar was focused on the topics on “rule of law and the integration of European market” and “Legal guarantees of EU market economy order”. At this seminar, the participants made extensive exchanges and deep-going explorations on a series of issues related to EU’s market economy order and put forward a great many suggestions on EU’s implications to China’s market economy building. The participants’ understanding of EU law was greatly improved, which is beneficial for them to widen their field of researches. In addition, this seminar also provided a platform of exchanges among Chinese legal scholars and between legal scholars and practitioners.
