In 2007, the EU is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome which was at the beginning of the European Union. In April 11 to 13, an international conference on “European Model and the World: Experiences and Inspirations - Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome” was held in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province of China, jointly organized by Institute of European Studies (CASS), University of Freiburg (Germany) and University of Suzhou. This conference provided an international platform of exchanging ideas about “European Model” from economic, social and law perspectives.

At present, Institute of European Studies, CASS is implementing the two-year long “EU-China: European Studies Centres Programme” with the research theme “European Model and its Impact on the World”. This international conference is the research results reporting and exchanging conference from the economics-society-law research group.
