China, Bulgaria call for more efforts for bilateral economic and trade cooperation

Beijing, April 28 (People's Daily Online)— Trade officials of China and Bulgaria have called for more efforts to enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation at a meeting on April 28, 2014.

Han Shengjian, Deputy Director of Trade Development Bureau of Ministry of Commerce of China, and Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy, Krassin Dimitrov were joined by representatives of 51 Chinese enterprises and 11 Bulgarian enterprises at the meeting held in the embassy of Bulgaria.

To promote the cooperation between China and Bulgaria, the Industrial zones of Bulgaria and Zhongguancun Science Park of China signed a memorandum of cooperation during the meeting.

Dimitrov said that Bulgaria has been seeking new source for economic growth and focusing on expanding its market share in Asia including China. Despite of the European financial crisis, Bulgaria still maintains a stable economic development and a sound fiscal policy.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bulgaria. China is a strategic partner of Bulgaria and has become the second largest export destination for Bulgaria outside the EU. Bulgaria maintains economic and trade dialogue with China.

Dimitrov noted that there is a huge potential for bilateral cooperation in the field of machinery manufacturing, car manufacturing, electronic telecommunications, chemical manufacturing, energy agriculture and food processing industry. Bulgaria is making efforts to introduce more products to China.

China and Bulgaria have huge potential in economic cooperation and both sides have been making unremitting efforts to ensure sound bilateral cooperation in recent years, said Han Shengjian, adding that China has been promoting import and encouraging more Chinese enterprises to go out.

In 2013, the trade volume between China and Bulgaria exceeded 2 billion US dollars and the export volume of Bulgaria to China amounted to more 1 billion US dollars. Batches of Bulgarian wine and rose oil are exported to China every year.

China has been maintaining a good momentum of growth and upgrading its consumption structure. Thus, China is a huge market filled with many opportunities.

The Trade Development Bureau is responsible for carrying forward multi-level and multi-channel activities to promote trade development. It is willing to set the stage for bilateral cooperation between China and Bulgaria.
