China newsweek launches UK edition
LONDON, June 25 (Xinhua) -- China Report, the UK edition of one of China's top investigative journals China Newsweek, made its debut in Britain on Tuesday. It's the first of China's news magazines to enter the bastion of media.
Published monthly in collaboration with Foremost 4 Media, a London-based media services company, the English edition brings to UK and European readers original stories about China's far-reaching reform and opening up, multidimensional portraits, and authoritative analyses.
With the rapid economic growth in the past decades, China have undergone enormous changes. Western audiences are often torn between the stereotypical perception of China and the modern reality of the country. The new magazine aims to bridge this gap and facilitate understanding and trust between China and the West.
Liu Beixian, president of China News Service and publisher of China Newsweek, said: "Through objective and timely reports, political leaders, top academics and opinion formers in Europe will be informed of the issues that really interest the Chinese, and the challenges faced by the country in its effort to integrate into the world."
Chen Shirong, managing editor of Foremost 4 Media, noted: "By providing unique access and additional dimensions to China stories, in English and published locally, the magazine is both learning from its Western counterparts and trying to reshape our perception of the world's most populous country."
The magazine is currently distributed in selected cities and public facilities in Britain. It seeks to enhance distribution through more platforms in the near future.
