Zhou Hong Meets with Mr.Dominique de Villepin

On the afternoon of March 10 2010, invited by Mr. Dominique de Villepin, former French Prime Minister, who was paying a visit to China, Prof. Zhou Hong, Director of the Institute of European Studies, held a talk with him in the Beijing Hotel. During the talk, Prof. Zhou Hong frankly and sincerely answered questions raised by Mr. Dominique de Villepin, including China-Europe and China-France relationships, and the future development strategy of

In addition, Prof. Zhou put forward pertinent advice on the future development and improvement of China-France and China-EU relationships and clarified some of the misunderstandings existing in China-European relations. Prof. Zhou emphasized that Europe should pay more attention to the education about and dissemination of knowledge about China’s culture and history, since it is just the ignorance and superficiality that is the roots leading to the misunderstandings, to the breakdown of cooperation and even conflicts. Some officials from the French Embassy also took part in the meeting and made very positive feedback and comments on the meeting.
